How to split a file in UNIX

Syntax

tar -cvf <new filename>.tar <source filename>
split -b <size in number>m “<new filename>.tar” “<new filename>.tar.part-”

Example
——-
tar -cvf server1_nmon.tar server1_150602_1610.nmon
split -b 1m “server1_nmon.tar” “server1_nmon.tar.part-”
